In your family and friends, there may be member who require a special diet. Please see below for some of the most common special diets and how you can work these into your weekly meals.

Senior Diets

As we age, it's more important than ever to keep hydrated with low-fat milk, 100% juice and water; as well as, keep your muscle mass by eating proteins.

MyPlate also recommends including a diet  with foods from each food group a healthy and lifestyle to help reduce your risk for chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, heart disease. 

Kids Diets

Similar to adults, children have their own version of the "Healthy Plate," with aim to eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible.

Try to limit your child's juice and sugary drinks to one small cup a day, to reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes, weight gain and heart disease.

Vegan Diet

A vegan diet is one in which a person chooses to not eat any meat or animal-based product (like milk, cheese, eggs and yogurt).

​

It is key to include foods and ingredients that will give your body carbohydrates, proteins and nutrients (like omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, iron and calcium), as it can be more difficult to receive these items with this diet.
